I’ve been back from the World of Hans Zimmer tour for almost 2 weeks, and apart from the wonderful memories of the music and musicians and crew, I’m remembering tonight an incident which is fairly commonplace in studio and live audio environments. A microphone was accidentally unplugged without being muted, and sent a nasty spike through everyone’s in-ear monitors. Except mine. I use a fantastic device from LimitEar Ltd, which protects my ears from this sort of thing. Anything above a certain preset level is caught before it gets to your ears. I heartily recommend anyone who uses headphones professionally to check this company out. How often have your ears been blasted by accident?
