Conducting for film is quite a different challenge to working with a live orchestra. With no audience for showmanship, the conductor’s role with the studio orchestra is a hugely collaborative one. The focus is on delivering the composer’s thoughts and ideas often to a tightly defined cue without losing any of the energy or significance of the piece.
